My Engine Build-up
In the summer of 2000, as the miles were being packed onto my SL2, I decided that it would eventually be time for a new motor. Rather than go the route of a mere stock replacement, I decided to embark on a project that would take nearly a year to complete. I was going to build a bored out high compression saturn motor. The motor was installed on 6/23/01 and as of this update on 6/24/01 has only slightly over 100 miles on it. Everything is going well thus far however.

  The Heart and Soul-JE Pistons
Nearly a year ago I decided to embark on a daring project and take my car to the next level. I would build an over-bored, high compression Saturn DOHC motor. The pistons I am using are manufactured by JE Pistons. Features include a 2.0L displacement and approxamately 10.5:1 compression when used with the 91-93 Saturn DOHC flat valves.

Other features of this engine
SPS cylinder head using saturn lobed valves from 94+ Saturn DOHC for a lighter valve train. The head itself is mildly shaved and the block is mildly milled, which should make up for any compression differance between the lobed and flat valves.

A nice shot of the engine, a little messy but still pretty.
Other basic mods to this engine include the SPS lt wt flywheel, injen intake, SPS throttle body, SPS intake manifold, Centerforce dual friction clutch, 92 Header and Downpipe(to be added with new motor), SPS Cat Back exhaust, Turbo muffler, etc. etc. etc.
